# Markus onboarding ## General outlook - Important to have some tasks, who to talk to - Give him time to get a lay of the land ## Intro meetings - General with Jamie, Becca, Pari - Tuesday, January 2nd at 3pm CET - Scheduled (Add Markus to invite :)) - Initial call w/ the three of us, then split up - Rafael hand-off - Hardware infra with Barnabas, Ligi(?) - Infra costs, billing, accounts with Paul, Becca - Thursday - Brainstorming sessions ## Access for Markus - [x] Kissflow + TravelPerk - [x] Onboarding Portal - [x] Discord - [x] Matrix - [x] @ethereum.org email - Becca created 1/1/24 - [x] Ethereum Github + DevOps Deployers - [x] 1Password - [x] AWS - [x] DigitalOcean - EF DevOps team - [ ] DevOps Keybase group - [x] DevOps Google Group ## Intro tasks: - Coordinate w/ Oleh & Jamie on current backups (hw maybe in Berlin/Boulder) - Organize visibility into cloud resources - Figure out split of what is hosted by ethpandaops and devops team - (This is a very good way to get to know what is where and who manages it!) - Maybe integrate with the inventory scanner tool (needs building) - Maybe use the ethdevops github org or a new repo for self-hosted hardware (ideally one that we can use with public runners for linting) ## Longer term issues to track: - Coord w/ Ligi for github backup, Archive-It - Coord w/ Rafael for forums maint, Staging/Prod setup, backups - Coord w/ OpSec for hackmd, notion, other docs systems backups - HW planning for backup servers - Yeet cluster repo (?) - Maybe push for ethereum org to be non legacy github account anymore, so we can have free CI/CD action runners (?) - CI improvements for geth - Visibility into PSE AWS account and infrastructure - Redirects server on AWS names & addresses (previously managed by Shivam & has no code so it would be good to revisit this set up and clean it up) It seems the initial set up was for this issue: https://github.com/ethereum/devops/issues/1004 - Look into better UIs for cloud cost monitoring, perhaps kubecosts or the like (had issues with DO and kubecost in the past) - Add Markus as admin for eth r&d? Figure out better bot protection there --- Would like to get access to the chat forums
