# Fast Finality Workshop · Board
Add anything you'd like. We'll schedule items into the open sessions; by Thursday we'll attempt that every item is either **settled** (with the decision) or **open with an owner**.
**Some topics:** available chain (AC) · finality gadget (FG) · healing (H) · networking (net) · other (X) (incentives, transition, specs, …)
## Open
| # | Topic | Problem (one line) | Raised by | Session | Owner |
|---|------|--------------------|-----------|---------|-------|
| 1 | consensus | What are the differences in security between Goldilocks & full stabilization gadget? (roberto) Bribing factor (yann)? | Roberto | day 1 - evening + day 2 morning + day 3 afternoon | |
| 7 | X | Could accelerating the PQ transition mean changes to I*? | Barnabé | | |
| 8 | AC | Discuss VRF selection for AC & what to include in block? (PQ also) | Mikhail | | |
| 11 | AC | What happens in a EU-US split? | Yann | | |
| 13 | FG | Balances, Committees, Reconfiguration | Roberto | | Roberto |
| 14 | X | Non-reward of AC committee without proposers | Roberto | | Roberto |
| 15 | p2p | p2p impact of timeouts being valid / rewarded (DoS factor) | Yann | | |
| 16 | incentives | inactivity leak vs. purge | Locky | | |
Pre-filled with what we consider settled. Challenge any of it during red teaming.
| # | Topic | Problem (one line) | Raised by | Session | Decision |
|---|------|--------------------|-----------|---------|-------|
| 9 | AC | How long should the Goldilocks locking period be? | Ben | day 1 - evening | We need an analysis grounded in real scenarios, and we need to make sure that clients can determine it locally (Csaba). |
| 2 | networking | How are aggregation bitfields determined? | Mikhail & Roberto | day 2 - evening | further research needed (Mikhail will work on it) |
| 3 | networking | Can we advance heights during a round? | Mikhail |day 2 - evening | Yes, seems possible (owners: Mikhail & Yann) |
| 4 | networking | Are we aiming for 4 slot finality in I* | Sukun | day 2 - evening | No, perhaps even less than 8 slot rounds |
| 5 | networking | How to decide between staggered publishing vs multiple committees - (sub-)round design | Sukun | day 2 - evening | If we can do priority then that beats both. Otherwise, agreement towards multiple committees/cohorts |
| 6 | AC | Why 512? | Kev | | research needed (Owner: consensus team) |
| 6.2 | AC | What's the expected variance in selected validators with 512? | Ben | | research needed (Owner: consensus team) |
| 6.3 | AC | What are the trade-offs with VRF or non-VRF AC? | Mikhail | day 2 - morning | we don't have the right tools yet |
| 12 | FG | How does healing work? | Roberto | day 2 - morning | We convinced ourselves that all arguments look good. |
| 10 | FG | How can we prevent honest leaking in Goldilocks under low participation? | Yann | day 2 - morning | This is an outstanding improvement needed for Goldilocks - research needed, e.g., we might need to try to finalize a slow locked target |
| 17 | net | Priority. Implemented. Measured | Csaba | day 3 - afternoon | initial tests done, it's possible, but more work needed to check whether it can be done for I* |
## Parking lot
Beyond DC, if there is time, or for another time.
- [ ] (Barnabé) What if we order validators by stake to shorten voting rounds?
- [ ] (Yann) Can we have a "continous" / "rolling" finality gadget that always picks the freshest possible target?
- [ ] (Yann) Fast/Slow mode in PQ propagation
- [ ] (Yann) PQ-like DC
- [ ] (Csaba) incentivising and accounting for work in recursive aggregation
